By nature I am a pessimist. But when necessary, I will be optimistic: like, when
I need to get up when I am still hungover. uh hm...*clears throat*
Keep in mind that feeling a range of emotion is healthy. Being unhappy and
negative all the time will be no good, and neither will the opposite. Overly
happy people are even more off-putting! I'd tell them to visit a doctor to see
if their body is producing too much happy hormones.
I have gone through the stage in my life where I think I am invisible, and that
everyone is somehow better off than I am. Eventhough my mood was negative, I try
to hang around with other people because they just see things differently and I
feel better after. It's all about taking that first step, initiating
contact.
As for answering the question how are you...I'd say "fine" or
"good and u" just to brush them off and avoid further conversation. If
I feel like telling them all the drama that's been happening in my life...I'd
say "oh me gosh, could you belive blah blah"
So the bottom line is: tell the truth when you feel like it, share it, vent, and
when the person actually cares. But refrain from retelling your life story when
the question is simply asked as courtesy.
I am a rather young member of Minitokyo compared to some of you here, but I am
happy to say that I am a content and active member.
One trend I have been noticing is the decreasing number of favourites on new
submissions. I have reached the conclusion that no matter how spectacular a new
submission is, it will NEVER reach the same number of favourite votes as the
oldest wallpapers on this site. When's the last wallpaper that got over 100 fav
votes? Pretty old I bet.
Reason: people's taste and expectations goes up over time.
I remember when I first joined, every other wallpaper was amazing. And I love
everyone's work here. The longer I stayed, the pickier I got about the
submissions since everything started to look the same and nothing really gives
me the "wow" effect anymore. Does anyone else feel the same?
And what is more "frustrating" is the people who actually remove
favourites from their folder. It hasn't happened to me yet, but I personally
find that unfair. What good can come out of such a deed? It's not as if there is
a quota on how many favourites a member can have, and meanwhile, the creator
would feel devastated that their work is no longer favoured.
I first caught sight of Loveless at a con and the first ep confused me to no
end. Sometime later, I found myself reading the Chinese version of the
manga.
I had a BIG BIG problem with Ritsuka looking that cute. And it's not just boyish
cute...it's a girlish cute. Ritsuka is pretty, too pretty. Really don't like the
style of the artwork. But the mysterious atmosphere of the work kept me flipping
page after page.
But Loveless reminded me of this book "The Beautiful Boy" found at
Amazon.com (see link)
Luckly my library had it and the photographs of boys are truly breathtaking!
One intriguing discussion is child photography vs child pornography. One female
pphotographer was widely critisized for her works because the boys were SO
beautiful, so captivating, that the viewers felt uncomfortable being so drawn to
the image and felt it was wrong. So is it a sin to love beautiful boys?
My my there are so many talented Fay-fans out there. Fay sama would be so
proud:D
It's really hard to choose because all the entries are so very lovely, but here
are my chosen:
First place: Entry #2: .:unleashed:. by schwindelmagier
Reason: Love the simplicity and uniqueness of it. It captures Fay's character
very well!
Second place: Entry #1: The White Wizard by sakurals
Reason: Very eye catching. Love the sparkles!
Third place: Entry #7: Magician of the Mists by starrliteangel
Reason: this wallie is very well done. The ice columns in the background divides
the image into three...a very stable and balanced composition (as found in Greek
architecture)
ALL OF THEM ARE B-E-A-UTIFUL!
But alas I must make hard choices:
1) by Rikkablurhound [8]
Reason: the colours are absolutely amazing, this one managed to grab my
attention right away and hold it
2) lunagata[10]
Reason: very unique concept. Very dynamic. I think most of the other entries
presented wings in their entirety, but this one chose to focus in on the texture
of a feather. And the fact that there is a pair of lovers featured is an
excellent play on lovers part of the phrase "wings lovers"
3) melymay [5]
Reason: This one is very dynamic...like she is caught in a moment of
transformation. Also, I am keeping in mind that this is the "wings
lovers" group and that the more generic the anime character featured the
better it will do to represent this particular group. One possible flaw is the
pixelated font of the title. I feel that some of the other banners had a cleaner
title.
4) animanga [2]
Reason: I love the atmosphere of this one. The contrast is beautiful too, but it
is not as unique as theabovementioned designs.
5) Rikkablurhound [9]
Reason: This is actually the hardest choice to make...hehe. I liked this one
because it featured a dark winged boy. Once again, I like it because it's
different.
I think I've said enough. can't wait til the results come out. Again, I am
amazed by the wonderful showcase of works here *applauses for everyone*
It happened to me too. Chi-san can be a toughie. Show us your wallie in the
Sandbox section. I am sure you will still get a lot of positive responses there.
To get rid of the pixelated effect, you need to do two things in Photoshop: blur
the image and then resharpen. Go up to Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur. Do
not set the radius more than 2.0 pixels, usually only 1.0 pixel will do. Next,
go up to Filter -> Sharpen -> Unsharp Mask. Again, set the pixel to 1.0
and play around with the % until you are happen with the sharpness. Overdoing
the sharpening might make ur image look grainy.
This technique works on scans at very high resolution. If your scanned pic has a
heavier textural effect...it could be due to the settings and the abovementioned
technique may not fix everything.
THANK GOODNESS U LOVE THIS MANGA TOO! *squeals in delight*
I found Higuri-san’s artwork by accident
on the net. Afterward, I found scanlations of Seimaden and Cantarella at http://www.storminheaven.net/
Higuri-san is an amazing artist. Not only that, she is a genius at character and
plot development. I even love the villains because their thoughts and
experiences are exposed, making them more real and understandable.
I vow to make some wallies to honour
Higuri-san’s work! Yes, I will make her
proud.
Okay, so I figured it out. It's not that I don't know how to draw, it's not that
I don't have artistic creativity...it's because I am lacking in a very important
technique. Extraction seems to be the problem. Someone willing to give me some
tips (and shortcuts of course) on how to make perfect extractions in Photoshop
would be appreciated! The only other relevant programs I have is Macromedia
Freehand.
What I look for in a manga is comparable to what I would look for in a
partner...EVERYTHING!
Okay, but no manga is perfect, just like no man is perfect. However, everyone
can find that one manga for them, just like they can find their special someone.
Certain individuals looks for certain traits stand out ie: humour, drama. While
others looks for wellroundedness.
Personally, I am looking for something I can relate to. The stories, the
characters, their experiences, the setting, the atmosphere.... And yes, that's
what I would also look for in a partner.

sorry, double post
I get fined my credits and fav points eh? Well, since 1/2 of my submissions have been axed, I guessed I also lost a lot of credit.
Thanks for the tip Canman. I will still take the risk with my wallies though! Chii-san watch out^;~
Allo all!
This wallie of mine didn't make it in the main gallery *sob sob*...
So here it is instead
Hm...I think I like Uriel & his Doll. Must be lonely in the underworld without someone as a companion right?
2nd best: Zafkiel & Anael (before her transformation....)
